Så här är det. Jag är med i en facebookgrupp som heter “Vi som syr medeltidskläder”. För ett par dagar sen frågade Maria Neijman (som är medförfattare på Indemejarecristi) om det fanns intresse att anta en utmaning hon hade på gång. Intresset var superstort och nu har utmaningen gått utanför facebook till bloggvärlden.

So here’s the thing. I’m a member of a facebook group called “Vi som syr medeltidskläder” (in english that means “We who sew medieval clothes”). One day Maria Neijman (one of the authors of Indemejarecristi) asked a question if anyone would be interested in joining in on a challenge she was thinking about. The response was great and now it grown beyond Facebook into the blogosphere.

Kort beskrivet går utmaningen ut på att man ska hitta en manuskriptbild man gillar och sedan återskapa en persons outfit. Jag har valt följande bild.

In short terms the challenge is about finding a manuscript picture of your liking and then recreate one persons outfit. I’ve chosen the following picture:

Jag har valt att återskapa Fortunas klänning – den rosa. Jag har inte riktigt bestämt alla detaljer än, men jag har tyget hemma. Det var förresten ett riktigt loppisfynd. Jag fick cirka nio meter för 80 kronor. Jag har tänkt göra klänningen utan varken snörning eller knappar och eftersom kjolen böljar så vackert från höfterna och nedåt är min tanke att jag ska ha fyra kilar – en i varje sida samt mitt fram och mitt bak.

I choose to recreate Fortune’s dress, the pink one. I havn’t decided on all the details yet, but I’ve got the fabric at home already. The fabric is actually a second hand lucky shot. I got about 9 meters of pink, three shaft twill for 80 SEK. That is about €9 or £7. My thoughts are that I should try to do it without buttons or lacing, and since the skirt seems to fold very nicely from the hips down there should be four gores. One in each side seam, one in front and one at the mid back. 

När vi är färdiga är tanken att vi ska ta en bild som ser ut som vår manuskriptbild. Mitt problem här är guldringarna. Finns det någon som har ett förslag på hur jag skulle kunna genomföra dem?

In the end we are supposed to take a photo in our creations, recreating the picture. My problem is the golden rings. Does anyone have any ideas on how to pull those off?
